immaginare la nostra vita senza plastica rinforzata con fibre di vetro. Scoperta per usi industriali intorno all\u2019inizio del XX secolo, fu inizialmente utilizzata per l\u2019isolamento delle abitazioni, ma le sue applicazioni si sono rapidamente evolute, tanto da essere oggi diventata un materiale di uso comune nell\u2019industria aerospaziale, automobilistica, marina ed edile.<\/p>\n<h2>Composizione<\/h2>\n<p>La <strong>plastica rinforzata con (fibra di) vetro<\/strong> \u00e8 un materiale composito, costituito da fibre di vetro e una matrice polimerica, di solito una resina termoindurente epossidica, vinilestere o poliestere. La resina conferisce resistenza chimica agli ambienti aggressivi del prodotto finale, funge da legante per le fibre presenti nel laminato strutturale e definisce la forma del componente in PRFV. Le fibre di vetro svolgono invece una funzione di rinforzo e possono essere disposte in modo casuale o orientate nel modo ritenuto pi\u00f9 opportuno. Il tipo pi\u00f9 comune di fibra di vetro utilizzato per il PRFV \u00e8 l\u2019e-glass, ossia l\u2019alluminio borosilicato, tuttavia in applicazioni che richiedono una protezione particolarmente elevata contro la corrosione da acidi, si usa molto spesso anche l\u2019e-cr-glass (resistenza elettricochimica).<\/p>\n<h2>Perch\u00e9 \u00e8 cos\u00ec resistente<\/h2>\n<p>Come nel caso di molti altri materiali compositi, i due elementi fondamentali del PRFV si integrano a vicenda per formare un composto pi\u00f9 resistente. Le resine plastiche sono resistenti al carico di compressione, mentre le fibre di vetro presentano una forte resistenza alla trazione. Di conseguenza il <strong>PRFV<\/strong>, combinando questi due materiali, \u00e8 in grado di <strong>resistere molto bene sia alle forze di trazione che alle forze di compressione<\/strong>. I metodi di produzione del PRFV includono l\u2019avvolgimento continuo di filamenti, la centrifugazione, l\u2019applicazione manuale o a spruzzo e la pultrusione.<\/p>\n<h2>Principali vantaggi<\/h2>\n<p>Il PRFV presenta molte caratteristiche positive. \u00c8 <strong>leggero<\/strong> ma al tempo stesso capace di offrire un\u2019elevata <strong>resistenza meccanica<\/strong>, propriet\u00e0 di <strong>resistenza alle sostanze chimiche e alla corrosione<\/strong> (grazie alle sue propriet\u00e0 non conduttive anche alla corrosione elettrolitica), <strong>stabilit\u00e0 alle radiazioni UV e alla temperatura e compatibilit\u00e0 ambientale<\/strong>. \u00c8 <strong>impermeabile<\/strong>, il che lo rende ideale per tutte le applicazioni in esterni. La gamma di applicazioni che utilizzano un sistema di tubature in PRFV \u00e8 oggi molto ampia: reti fognarie e condotte per il trasporto di acqua potabile, serbatoi di stoccaggio, condutture di drenaggio, condotte forzate per centrali idroelettriche, sistemi di tubazioni di tipo industriale, soluzioni di ripristino con tubi speciali a sezione non circolare, solo per citarne alcune. Entrambi i metodi prevedono l\u2019aggiunta di sabbia ed elementi riempitivi al composto di fibre e resine, allo scopo di ottenere una parete abbastanza spessa da aumentare la resistenza e la rigidit\u00e0 del tubo.<\/p>\n<p>Il <strong>processo di avvolgimento continuo di filamenti<\/strong> impiega rinforzi in fibra di vetro, sia continua che in spezzoni, i quali vengono applicati su un mandrino a rotazione continua che si sposta in direzione circonferenziale. Il tubo viene quindi formato dall\u2019interno verso l\u2019esterno.<\/p>\n<p>Al contrario, nella <strong>centrifugazione<\/strong>, la parete del tubo viene costruita dall\u2019esterno verso l\u2019interno in uno stampo rotante. Le materie prime, compresi gli spezzoni di fibra di vetro, vengono inseriti in successione all\u2019interno dello stampo da un braccio alimentatore che si sposta avanti e indietro.<\/p>\n<p>Entrambi i processi portano a un tubo in PRFV con caratteristiche precise, superiori sotto molti punti di vista a quelle degli altri materiali.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
