Amiblu Expands Manufacturing Capacity in Morocco to Support Growing Water Infrastructure Demand Across Africa
Amiblu has strengthened its manufacturing footprint in Africa with the inauguration of a third production line at its Moroccan facility, marking a significant milestone in the Group’s strategy to support the development of sustainable and resilient water infrastructure across Morocco, Africa, and beyond.
The expansion represents an investment of €15.2 million and significantly enhances the production capabilities of Amiblu Maroc, one of the Group’s key manufacturing facilities. The investment reflects Amiblu Group’s continued commitment to supporting customers with advanced GRP (Glass-Reinforced Plastic) piping solutions for various water and industrial applications.
The new production line increases annual manufacturing capacity to 660 kilometres of pipes in DN800 equivalent diameter, raises the maximum producible diameter from DN2600 to DN3200, and expands fittings production capacity by 50%. The investment also includes a new testing facility, coupling production equipment, an expanded fittings workshop, new production and administrative buildings, upgraded logistics areas, employee facilities, and the future GRP Academy.
“Water infrastructure is becoming increasingly critical for communities, industries, and economies around the world. Investments such as this one ensure that we can continue supporting our customers with the manufacturing capacity, engineering expertise, and local presence needed to deliver complex water projects successfully,”
said Wolfgang Stangassinger, CEO of Amiblu.
Morocco has become an increasingly important market for strategic water infrastructure investments, particularly in drinking water transmission, desalination, irrigation, and industrial water systems. Through its expanded operations, Amiblu Maroc is well positioned to support these developments while also serving customers throughout West Africa and selected East African markets.
The facility combines local manufacturing with access to the technical resources of the wider Amiblu Group, including the company’s global Technology and R&D Centre in Norway. This enables customers to benefit from advanced expertise in hydraulic design, structural engineering, material science, installation support, and lifecycle optimisation.
“This investment is not only about increasing production capacity. It is about strengthening our ability to support strategic water infrastructure projects from design to commissioning. By combining extensive local expertise with the resources of the Amiblu Group, we can help customers deliver reliable and efficient water systems for generations to come,”
said Omar Benyahia, Managing Director of Amiblu Maroc.
GRP piping systems are widely recognised for their corrosion resistance, hydraulic efficiency, low maintenance requirements, and long-term durability. These characteristics make them particularly suitable for challenging applications such as desalination, large-diameter water transmission, irrigation networks, industrial pipelines, and wastewater infrastructure.
The inauguration reflects Amiblu Group’s long-term commitment to investing in the capabilities, innovation, and expertise required to help address growing global water challenges and deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions where they are needed most.
