A major GRP piping solution was delivered to one of the world’s leading zinc producers – supporting advanced chemical, cooling, and wastewater systems in Norway’s iconic Boliden Odda plant.
In the heart of the Norwegian fjords, Boliden Odda stands as one of the world’s largest and most advanced zinc production facilities. Since its founding in 1924, the plant has grown into a key hub for zinc manufacturing, producing more than 200,000 tons of metallic zinc per year, alongside sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) and zinc-based specialty products. Its raw materials come from Boliden’s own mines in Ireland and Sweden, while its refined products serve steel manufacturers across Europe.
As part of a significant plant expansion in 2024, Boliden turned to Amiblu to deliver a tailored, high-performance GRP pipe system solution. The goal: modernize and expand key infrastructure while ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with industrial requirements. Between March 2024 and January 2025, Amiblu supplied and assembled over 1,500 meters of precision-engineered GRP pipes, all manufactured at our Camarles facility in Spain.
The scope of the project included several critical systems:
This project showcases Amiblu’s expertise in delivering comprehensive, custom-engineered GRP solutions for complex industrial environments. From handling aggressive chemicals to supporting cooling and waste systems, our pipes met all performance, space, and safety criteria while enabling streamlined installation in one of Europe’s most demanding production facilities.
