Amiblu NC Line: The chameleons among pipe systems

Non-circular (NC) GRP profiles are the chameleons in the world of water infrastructure: Customized shapes and sizes serve a variety of applications. We asked Alexis Capoul, NC business development manager of the Amiblu Group, to tell us more about the functionality of these versatile products.

How would you describe Amiblu NC pipes in three words/sentences?

Alexis: Amiblu NC pipes are renowned for their exceptional durability and long lifespan that ensures a reliable performance over time. Their technical properties make them ideal for a wide range of applications in sewage systems and water distribution networks. Proudly produced in Europe, they adhere to high manufacturing standards, guaranteeing best quality and reliability.

What makes NC pipes an attractive solution for a customer who needs to rehabilitate an old sewer in a city center?

Alexis: First of all, their versatile customization options. The pipes can be tailor-made to match existing diameters, allowing for seamless integration into deteriorated non-circular channels, significantly extending their service life. Their thin yet sturdy pipe walls plus an exceptionally smooth inner liner ensure that the hydraulic capacity of the sewer is maintained or even enhanced. Thanks to carefully selected raw materials, NC pipes are engineered to withstand the acidic environments typical of sewers over generations.

If we look at the products from an environmental perspective: What are the advantages of this particular GRP product?

Alexis: The pipes’ light weight not only reduces transportation emissions but also requires less heavy construction machinery during installation, minimizing environmental impacts. Their suitability for trenchless installation further reduces disruptions to ecosystems. Whenever possible, we use recycled raw materials like rPET in production. And the production in Europe follows highest standards, ensuring minimal environmental impact throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Sometimes, things have to happen quickly. If I place an order for a batch of, let’s say, egg profiles today – when would the products be delivered?

Alexis: Our efficient NC production plants in Poland and Spain enable us to deliver within just 4 weeks of receiving your order. This swift turnaround time is made possible by our flexible planning approach and advanced 2.0 production lines.

Are there other applications for non-circular pipes beyond sewer rehabilitation?

Alexis: Absolutely. NC pipes are commonly employed in culverts for road and railway crossings, ensuring the safe passage of water to prevent floodings and maintain structural integrity. They also play a significant role in stormwater management systems, mitigating erosion risks and enhancing the resilience of road and railway networks. Drainage and support of bridges are another possible application. Non-circular pipes offer tailored solutions across a spectrum of critical infrastructure, bolstering the resilience and sustainability of these systems.
